Usage Terms for Camera Content and Sensor Data

AllSkyKamera Network – License Agreement
Back

These terms describe which usage rights you may grant to the AllSkyKamera Network for content (images/videos) and sensor data from your camera. Permissions are set individually per camera in your account settings.

1. What is covered?

  • Images, videos and derived representations (e.g. timelapse, keograms, star trails, thumbnails).
  • Sensor data (e.g. sky brightness, temperature, humidity) including time series stored in the database (InfluxDB).
  • Technical processing such as compression, cropping, color correction, overlays and editing necessary for publication or distribution.

2. Basic License

  • Non-exclusive: you remain free to use and publish your content independently at any time.
  • Worldwide and valid for all platforms and media operated by the network.
  • Unlimited in time, but revocable for future use (see Revocation).
  • Editing and formatting adjustments are permitted as required for presentation and distribution.

3. Publication / Public Communication

If enabled, the network may publish content from this camera on the website, in community posts, public relations materials and on social media platforms.

Examples of platforms include: YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, X (Twitter), Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, Reddit, Discord, as well as newsletters and blog posts.

4. Monetization

If enabled, content from this camera may also be used in monetized publications, such as ad-supported videos, sponsorships, paid collaborations or supporter/Patreon formats.

5. Analytics & Data Products (Analysis, Aggregation, Licensing/Sale)

If enabled, images, videos and sensor data from this camera may be analyzed and processed. Derived data products may be created and, where applicable, licensed or sold (e.g. statistical summaries, aggregated time series, models or research datasets).

Important
Derived or aggregated datasets are preferred for data products. The direct resale of raw images or raw video files is not required and will only occur if explicitly agreed.

6. Attribution

The camera ID (ASKxxx) will be credited by default. The operator’s name will only be mentioned if it is explicitly enabled in the profile settings.

7. Revocation

You may revoke permissions at any time in your account settings. Revocation applies to future publications only. Content already published may remain online to preserve previously shared posts and references.
